Welcome to our very first Sneaker Stitch artist collaboration.  This is the beginning of something we’ve been dreaming about for a while.

We’ll introduce you to different artists, makers, or creatives and explore what happens when their creative world meets Sneaker Stitch!

Different hands. Different stories. Different fabrics. Different creative worlds.  And one very special pair of sneakers.

For our first collaboration, meet Ash, the colourful creative force behind Wonderland Design Co.

Meet Ash

Artist.
Mum of four.
Professional dreamer.
Collector of paint-covered clothes.
Animal lover.
Director of colourful chaos.

Ash creates from her studio in Victoria’s beautiful Yarra Valley, usually surrounded by some combination of plants, pets and paint.  And plenty of colour.

She created Wonderland Design Co. for a beautifully simple reason: she wanted to make things that made people smile.

Those colourful ideas have since found their way into homes around the world, something Ash says still completely blows her mind.

Welcome to Wonderland! There’s something wonderfully happy about Ash’s work.  Bold colour. Playful patterns. Florals. Unexpected combinations. Pieces that don’t take themselves too seriously but still feel unmistakably like her.

Ash describes her approach as:  “I paint the way happiness feels.”

And we think that might be the perfect description.

Wonderland is about bringing colour and personality into everyday life, whether that’s through original artwork, prints, patterns, homewares or Ash’s beautiful fabric designs.

And that’s where another creative connection enters our story.

From Ash’s imagination to fabric

Ash’s designs are available as print-on-demand fabric through Michael at Cloth Cuts.

This means you can take one of Ash’s amazing designs and have it printed onto your choice of a range of different fabric bases.

We took Ash’s colourful fabric design and gave it a completely different place to shine: a pair of Sneaker Stitch sneakers.

And this is exactly why we wanted to create this weekly series.

It’s not only about showing you a finished pair of sneakers.

It’s about following the creative journey behind them.

Michael and Cloth Cuts transform that artwork into beautiful print-on-demand fabric.

And Sneaker Stitch gives makers another way to turn that fabric into something completely their own.
